Bossy cats

Everyone in Orange County and around the world knows that there is one boss for every home. The question is, are you the boss in your home or is your cat? There are a few signs which can answer that for you.

If your cat is always in your way, it is possible that they are intentionally placing themselves in your way. They may nibble on your nose, fingers, or feet for food or attention. They will pee outside the litterbox for no reason other than they wanted to.

Thankfully there are ways in which this can be remedied. Cats thrive on schedules, and they require more attention that people think.

Schedule play times together throughout the day. Five to ten minutes a couple of times a day will do the trick. You can use toys, love on them, and more to work their energy out.

Eat with your cat. It helps them to feel close to you if they eat nearby you rather than at a great distance.

Place beds and cat towers in areas where your cat would normally get in the way. Having a cat bed near your computer may keep them off your keyboard while still giving you the ability to give them the attention they need.

Don’t talk to your cat when they meow to you. This can cause them to meow longer and louder.

If you feel that your cat’s behavior is too aggressive you should talk to your veterinarian to get advice on how to handle the situation.
