This is an expanded update on a previous recall on foods tainted with aflatoxin first reported on Dec. 6, 2011. Luckily we whould not be too affected on the West Coast unless purchasing food online.
Like it or not our food and drug safety system is broken and companies are very slow to respond to known tainted food and taking them off the market in the hopes that they can sell as much as possible before news is out there.

December 28th:
Petrus recalls their 21% food (made by Cargill – which issued a recall 20 days ago)lots 4K1011 through 4K1335.
ARROWBRAND 21% Dog Chunks SKU #807 40 lb. bag, ARROWBRAND Super Proeaux Dog Food SKU #812 40 lb. bag, and ARROWBRAND Professional Formula Dog Food SKU #814 50 lb. bag. Lot numbers 4K0341 through 4K0365 and 04K1001 through 4K1325.
Both of these diets were made and sold in Louisiana.
Dec 7th 2011:
Cargill recalls lots of Riverrun and Marksman food.

Dec 6th 2011:
Proctor and Gamble has recalled a lot of ProActive Health Smart Puppy dry food due to contamination with aflatoxin (fungal toxin from Aspergillus). As of yet no illnesses reported, but symptoms can include lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, or jaundice from liver disease.
It has already been pulled from the shelves and so far has been confined to stores in the eastern United States. I am unsure if any has been sold online to be distributed out our way.
Affected lot has expiration date Feb 5 or Feb 6th 2013.
