A wash and a brush for the dog in the house.

Whether it be a little or a lot every dog in Orange County and around the world needs to be groomed. The amount of grooming depends on the breed, type of pelt, and ears and eyes.

Although most veterinary care includes nail trimming there is more to grooming than nails. There is also brushing, washing, hair trimming, and cleaning of the eyes and ears. A well-groomed dog is look and feel good.

Dogs that have high grooming needs are those with double coats, thick coats, or heavy coats. This means that they will require daily brushing and cleaning. If they go without the appropriate and frequent care they could wind up with dull and tangled coats.

Dogs with medium coats do not need extensive grooming. While they will still need regular brushing to keep a glossy coat, they will only need to bathe when necessary. There are some dogs that will only require grooming when they are shedding.

There are dogs that are considered low maintenance. With these pups they only require occasional brushing and limited bathing. For some of these long-haired breeds they shouldn’t be clipped.

Then there are those that only need to be brushed once a week or so. They do not really need baths or clipping. However, as with all breeds the eyes and ears should be regularly cleaned to avoid infection.

If you are uncertain of what categorization that your dog falls into be sure to consult a professional. If you are not very experienced in pet grooming you might ought to hire someone to help you out.
