Don’t freak out…we are only moving about a block and a half…to 200 S. Tustin St, right next to the Bird Clinic. And we know that you have many questions.
1) Why the move?
For many reasons. First of all, while we have updated our ability to perform medicine with a new laser, diagnostic lab equipment, digital radiography, and new software system, our facilities are very dated. We have very limited ability for growth with the two exam rooms. Some of you may have noticed longer wait times because of this and with more rooms will be less waiting. Also, some of you may not know this, but Dr. Horn is certified in canine rehabilitation therapy. There will be more room in our new hospital for a treadmill, exercise area, and underwater treadmill. We also may have room to pursue other treatment modalities such as acupuncture with the increased space. Our square footage will increase from 3600 to 4500 square feet. Also, the new layout will be more efficient, allowing for improved patient care.
2) When will the move occur?
The original goal is February. It is possible that we might beat this goal. There are still a lot of details to go, but construction has started.
3) What’s going to happen with the current building?
We don’t want to give up our wonderful boarding facilties, especially the wonderful dog park we have. We will still offer the great boarding experience for our furry friends that many of you have utilized over the years. Even more than that, we are hoping to be able to work closely with the numerous rescue groups in our area to use our building for adoptions, training, and short-term boarding until foster or adoptive families. We are still working on logistical details.
4) Are the staff going too?
Yes, we are moving too. We will obviously need people in the existing building to care for the pets, but everyone will be in the new building too. Forest and Lucky will be invited to come along too…although we fear that Lucky might prefer his current digs. Forest will be happy anywhere he can get loving and lunch.
This is a very exciting time. With the new building, our pets and their parents will have access to the best…and don’t they deserve the best?
We will be adding a page to our website that will keep you updated as to progress. We will also have pictures up in our office very soon. You also can look at our contractor’s facebook page. They are doing an incredible job and we could not do this without them. If you are looking for a contractor…you can’t do any better.
We will send out notices out when the move date gets closer. Meanwhile…stay tuned for more updates. We hope that you will be as excited as we are.
