With springtime comes kittens. Too many cats living outdoors and still capable of breeding. While I certainly think it’s wonderful for people to take in wandering felines, and to befriend them and feed them, I wish that they would take the extra step of having them spayed or neutered.
Many of these kittens end up orphans due to the difficult lives for outdoor cats. And these cats end up left at stores, veterinary clinics, and the shelter. Most end up dying without help. Thankfully there are good people out there trying to make a difference. Numerous cat rescue groups are out there, trying to network to get these little kitties foster families, to help be their parents until time to go to their permanent homes.
But these rescue groups need help. While they certainly need financial help, what they also desperately need are foster families willing to help these kittens to get a better start. They are having to turn away kittens from lack of families who can care for them. The commitment is tough. Anywhere from 1-7 weeks of bottle feedings, medications, and less sleep. But the reward is huge. Just looking into those little eyes and those little meows make it all worth it.
If you are interested in being a foster family or helping a rescue group, please let me know. I can help to get you in touch with a group in your area. These rescues are not collectors. They will help find permanent happy homes for these kitties. Please, let’s give these adorable kittens a chance.
Thank you
