Today, I met Cleo, an adorable 15 week pit bull puppy along with her new friend Dillinger. Cleo was adopted from the OC shelter a couple of months ago. The OC Shelter routinely microchips all pets that leave the shelter.
After too brief a time together, Cleo was stolen. Her owner, heartbroken, thought that she would never see Cleo again.
But that was not the case. Cleo escaped from her abductors. She was found in an Albertson’s parking lot in central California, in an area infamous for illegal dog fighting rings. Likely Cleo would have become a breeder for fighting dogs. A good Samaritan found her and had her checked for a microchip. And after several weeks, Cleo and her mom (and new doggie friend) are reunited. What a happy ending to what could have been a tragic story. Needless to say, Dillinger got his microchip today.
My thanks go out to the kind person who went out of her way to help a lost pit bull puppy. I wish Cleo, Dillinger, and their mom wonderful lives together!
