City hearing for converting our old hospital to boarding and adoption center.
It is our plan to convert our old hospital building to a boarding and adoption center (rescues to hold adoption events and interviews there). We started this process in November and progress has been slow. The hearing to approve the change in permit requirements to allow boarding without a veterinarian present on site is on Monday, April 2nd at 7:00 at the City Council Chambers off of Chapman. The main point of contention is the requirement to have an attendant present 24 hours (a requirement of all “kennels” in the city). This requirement will increase boarding prices by 5-10 dollars a night per pet. We wish the city to grant a variance to this requirement, as our boarding facility has never had a 24 hour attendant. Other boarding facilities have the owners living on-site to fulfill this requirement but they lack the highly trained, veterinarian supervised boarding that we offer. We want your input at the hearing. If you can make it, please come and let your voice be heard.
Thank you
