At long last, our boarding facility will be open tomorrow. Ever since I announced our move to our current location, what would happen to our old hospital, the park, and boarding have been a concern for clients who have boarded their pets with us for many years.
The great news is that after many hurdles, with the city of Orange, Orange County Animal Services, and the difficulty of getting the facilities modernized (building was built in 1959), we will be having our first canine guests starting tomorrow. We will be now offering specialized boarding for dogs with medical or specialized needs in our hospital and cats in the luxurious condos overlooking the aquarium. The rest of the dogs get to spend their vacation time in our renovated boarding facility.
The kennels have been redone, with improved sanitation, air conditioning, and the walls sandblasted, re-cemented, and painted. The dogs even get TV, pheromone aroma therapy, and even more TLC than they got before. All of our guests will get twice daily free play time in the park.
The reception area has also been redone, making what will hopefully be a short wait more comfortable.
Unfortunately, all of these repairs, some of which were required to open, didn’t come on the cheap. We need to make sure that our canine guests are comfortable. This does mean a dreaded price increase. Because all of our dog kennels are quite large, and of even size, we are simplifying our pricing. For dogs boarding in either facility, it will be $26 per night. Cats (in the hospital) are $17 per night. While I know these prices are a bit of a shock to those who were used to the insanely low boarding prices, know that your pets are receiving a much better experience and are receiving the best care. The prices are still lower than many larger boarding facilities…and these facilities don’t have a huge enclosed park to play in and don’t have a veterinarian available in case of any unforseen difficulties.
For those of you who already have made boarding appointments, we will honor our old prices.
It is our goal to make sure that your pet receives the very best care during their stay with us. Please make sure to let us know of any special needs that they may have. Also know that we can text/email updates as often as you’d like.
We will have a receptionist present at the boarding facility from 7-9 and 4-6 weekdays and 7-9 and 1-3 on Saturdays. Our well-trained kennel attendants will be there all day. We ask that if at all possible, to try to arrange to bring or pick up your canine family members when our receptionist is there. If you cannot, then you will need to make arrangements or come to our hospital location before discharge. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us 714-633-3323.
Please also know that we may have a few hiccups as we convert to the two buildings for boarding and we appreciate your patience. We certainly welcome any suggestions on improvement.
Please make sure to read about all of the amenities that we offer and our requirements for boarding. We are very excited about our ability to take care of your pets’ needs while you are away. Please know that they are in very good hands.
