Dr. Murphy and Lucca
Dr. Murphy and Lucca

While Dr. Murphy has been with us for almost 6 months now on Thursdays and Fridays, you can now make an appointment with her on Mondays and Saturdays too! Dr. Murphy has been a welcome addition to our team and many of our clients have stated how kind, wonderful, and passionate she is about their pet’s well-being.Beyond her great skills with the pet parents and pets in the exam room, she is also an excellent surgeon (she just today had to perform a splenectomy (spleen removal) and liver biopsy on her dog Gunnar due to a bleeding mass-we are all hoping for a speedy recovery). She has extensive knowledge and skill in infectious diseases, internal medicine, dentistry, behavior, surgery, preventative medicine, reproduction medicine, and rescue pet care. She has extensive knowledge of and loves especially working with French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, and Pugs.

Dr. Kirsten Murphy is a graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She grew up in both Southern California and Colorado. Wanting to become a veterinarian from an early age, she spent many hours with her “zoo” of personal pets including cats, dogs, horses, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, frogs, and fish.

After completing her last year of veterinary school she volunteered doing surgery for the Humane Society. She ultimately couldn’t stay away from Southern California and returned to Orange County and has honed her skills in general medicine and surgery. Dr. Murphy worked in Irvine and Tustin for five years prior to joining OC Veterinary Medical Center in March of 2012. Her professional interests include surgery, oncology, and animal behavior.

Dr. Murphy lives in Old Towne Orange with her husband, two kids, and their furry four-legged friends. This includes Gunnar (Labrador Retriever), Penny Lane (Pug), Lucca (French Bulldog), Stretch (Persian cat) and Rascal (Bengal). When Dr. Murphy isn’t working or playing with the kids, she enjoys gardening, sewing, and travelling the world. Some of her favorite places include Egypt, China, Italy, and the Greek Isles.
