The Morris Animal Foundation is starting the Canine Lifetime Health Project, with the goal of learning how to prevent and treat major dog diseases.
The first part of this study will focus on Golden Retrievers. The goal will be identification of genetic, nutritional, and environmental risk factors for cancer and other diseases. Cancer is a leading cause of death in this breed.
Their goal is to enroll over 3000 Golden Retrievers and will last for 10-14 years. Dogs must be under 2 years of age and live in the 48 contiguous United States. They must also have a 3 generation pedigree.
