There is another recall to watch for. This (so far) is a smaller recall from a single manufacturing site. The recall is due to salmonella contamination.
Salmonella can affect pets that eat contaminated food. Owners are at risk from handling the food or feces (poop pick up), especially if they have not practiced good hygiene with hand, food bowl, or counter top washing/disinfecting.
People infected with Salmonella can get the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (can be bloody), abdominal cramping and fever. Less common more severe symptoms include: arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. If you are experiencing these symptoms, please call your physician or seek emergency care.
Pets with Salmonella can have the following symptoms: lethargy, diarrhea (can be bloody), fever, and vomiting. Most pets will have less severe symptoms of decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. The biggest risk is that pets can become carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact us.
