Fall is now upon us, the happy season of falling leaves, pumpkins, candy, and turkeys. But it also means the dreaded Santa Ana Winds. These destructive gales can cause pets a lot of grief.
- Do not relax your vigilance on fleas. When these winds still, it gets hot and those fleas can get worse in a hurry. Keep on regular monthly flea control!
- Those winds stir up all the pollen collecting from the spring and summer. Watch for itching, scratching, and head shaking. Don’t stop those allergy treatments too soon./li>
- Fires hurt pets too! Make sure to clean your eaves and roofs of debris. Those on hillsides make sure to maintain proper fire clearance. If there is a fire, don’t wait until too late to get your pets to safety. Public safety officials do care for your pets but they won’t let you home to get them if it’s too dangerous. If there is an evacuation imminent, know that we will be here to house as many pets as possible in the event of emergency (which hopefully won’t happen.)/li>
Let’s all enjoy the fall!
