Orange County cats are carnivores just like the rest of the feline population. Unlike dogs or humans there are only certain kinds of foods that they can eat. Your kitty requires lots of meat.
Obviously cats can have cat food. When purchasing this for your kitty make sure that the label states the food has met the standards set forth by the American Association of Feed Control Officials (AAFCO).
Of course, if your picky kitty doesn’t like the food you must be prepared with other options. Be sure to find the right food for both their nutritional needs and selective palates.
If your cat seems in the mood for plants steer them away from the house plants towards safer choices. Give them a little bit of baked carrots. If you can steam vegetables then asparagus, broccoli, green beans, winter squash, or chopped greens is the safest way to go.

A great source of protein is cheese, and cats do love cheese. Unfortunately, many cats become lactose intolerant with age. If you are unsure start out with just a couple of bites and see if it negatively affects them.
A little bit of cooked fish now and again wouldn’t hurt either. Just don’t give them too much. Fish such as tuna, salmon, and swordfish tend to have high levels of mercury.
Eggs are another source of protein widely enjoyed by cats. Just scramble some up and serve it as a great treat for your feline friend.
For concerns about your cat’s diet be sure to consult their veterinarian. They will be able to advise you about hard or soft foods, and what foods are okay for them to eat.
