Temperature is for the birds.

Even birds in Orange County are in need of proper temperature control in their environment. If you are concerned about whether or not your particular species of bird needs a special temperature setting then you should consult your veterinarian.

Majority of pet birds need temperature settings of between 65 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. If needed they can handle between 40 to 90 degrees. This broader range though depends on a few things.

Assuming there is moving air in the room your bird can withstand higher temperatures up to 90 degrees. To provide moving air you can do a couple of different things. One is that you can place the bird’s cage by an open window. Of course, if that option is unavailable then try putting a fan near the cage.

Your bird’s weight can also affect how they withstand temperatures. Thinner birds have less ability to keep as warm as birds with more meat. So it may be more ideal to keep higher temperatures in their environment. On the other hand, overweight birds can easily overheat. For these chunky birds lower temperatures would be better.

The temperatures that they are accustomed to also play a role in how they handle them. Like humans they can handle higher or lower temperatures if they are used to them. If they gradually adjust to a different temperature level then they will be better able to handle the temperature.
